More than a year has passed (once again) since my last post, and Christy, my wonder-blogger daughter and recent high school graduate, left for camp today, so I need to write!!

Christy's room is looking very abandoned... but some fortunate kids will get to feel her love and compassion in the next few weeks.

Her busy month has come to an end - including her final exam in Physics the morning of the grad banquet and the day before graduation.

She - and our whole family - was/were blessed by so many friends who showed their love and support for us in this time of celebration.  The pile of envelopes on Christy's desk is just a small reminder of all we have to be thankful for.

Yes, we are very "proud" of the fact that Christy received the Timothy award for being the girl with the highest academic average in her class (even after taking all 3 sciences).

But I am even more "proud" of the Yokefellow award for "exemplary contributions to the spiritual and social life" of her fellow students.  Grades/marks will not have a lasting impact (did my own high school awards mean anything 10 or 20 years down the road?), but a vibrant and growing relationship with God is a lifelong journey, one better embarked upon early in life.

Was I happy when we had to leave Cameroon suddenly 4+ years ago and Jenny was so ill?  No.  Am I okay with it?  Yes.  Our kids have been in exactly the right place these last 4 years.  And it will be exciting to see how God leads them in the years to come!
